Whether you are after small dog breeds that don’t shed because you have allergies, or because you just don’t like dog hair all over the place, then this list of cute dogs that don’t shed will be useful in assisting you in your research.
The best dogs for allergies are either dogs with hair not fur, or hairless dogs … and small dogs have the added benefit of shedding less dander than larger dogs. While all dogs shed some dander, low-shedding dogs tend to spread less dander around than those that shed more, because the dander (which is often the cause of pet allergies) is trapped in their coat, rather than being released into the air when a dog sheds.

Managing Pet Allergies
Please remember that, while these dogs are hypoallergenic, they still shed some dander, and they have saliva, and they pee – all of which can contain allergens to irritate sensitive allergies! In addition to this, their coats can pick up allergens from the atmosphere or from the outdoors, which need to be cleaned regularly.
To manage your pet allergies, your dog will need to be wiped or brushed regularly (outside), and washed reasonably regularly with a gentle shampoo, to keep them free of allergens. If they have hair that doesn’t shed, then you also need to get them groomed every 6 weeks, to ensure their coat stays in good condition.
Having a pet dog is a wonderful thing, and can bring so much joy to a person or family. For those with dog allergies, choosing the right dog that sheds the least and has the characteristics you are looking for in your canine companion can ensure you have a wonderful addition to your family, while still remaining healthy.
